The Canopy Connections team’s ultimate goals were rooted in developing environmental awareness in our community as well as inspiring continued stewardship. If you want to deepen your connection to the environment, we have provided some wonderful methods to do so here:
Sit Spots
“Sit spotting” was an activity the team employed during our humanities portion of the curriculum. It involves dedicating a certain portion of time (we chose 30 minutes), ideally on a periodic basis, to coming to a certain spot in nature and being alone with just your thoughts, a field journal, and the word around you. Through engaging in sit spots we are able to both strengthen our observation skills and build a lasting connection to nature. Below are some of our teams favorite sit spot areas around Eugene, however a sit spot can take place anywhere, even your own backyard!
